Located in the Heart of Bearden Village, Westwood has long been considered one of Knoxville’s foremost neighborhoods.  It's homes represent a variety of architectural styles, reflecting periods which date back to the neighborhood's infancy. With its diverse and extremely active resident population, Westwood exhibits an energetic lifestyle enjoyed by many.
  There is a wonderful mix of lifestyles present in Westwood. Singles, couples, young families and older folks contribute to the neighborhood vitality enjoyed here. A tradition of old- fashioned friendliness and participation continues and is significant in defining quality of life in the area.
Westwood possesses an abundant variety of trees, shrubs, flowers, birds and other small wildlife. These provide a calendar spanning visual feast of natural beauty.  Surprisingly, this lovely haven also boasts one of the most convenient locations in the Knoxville area!
  A variety of Knoxville’s finest shopping, dining and entertainment hot-spots are located in the Historic Bearden Village which is an easy walk from Westwood.  The University of Tennessee, the shopping and cultural center of Downtown Knoxville and the large scale shopping districts of West Knoxville and Turkey Creek are all just minutes away. Westwood is centrally located between three of Knoxville’s major thoroughfares (Northshore Drive, Kingston Pike and Interstate I-40).The subdivision that would become Westwood began in 1925 when Suburban Corporation acquired 82.5 acres of land for a development to be named Kingston Pike Heights.
The original subdivision consisted of 91 lots sized for single family residences; a major addition in 1928 expanded the holdings to 155 lots. In 1938, Westwood Corporation acquired the unsold property, bought undeveloped land on the northern, and renamed the project Westwood Subdivision. The following year, independent developers acquired the land on which the two Century Courts were developed. Over the next decade, adjacent properties were subdivided and developed concurrently with Westwood. Today, Westwood consists of just over 200 single-family residences. A History of Westwood was revised and reprinted in September 1995, updating the original publication of fall 1986. This 60-page publication is handsomely done and is a treasure trove of information. It is available for purchase through the Westwood Homeowners Association (WHA). westwood Park is located off Herron Drive, about 50 yards west of the intersection of Herron and Westwood Drives. It was completed in 1993 and consists of a walking/jogging path, benches, a gazebo, and playground equipment for children.
